I’m going to give you two reasons (although there are countless more) why I don’t want to hear you say “I could book this trip on my own.. I don’t really need a travel agent.”
1. I once had clients (actually this has happened multiple times) in a destination trying to get home after their vacation. Their flight was cancelled and they were already at their gate. At that point, there was an entire plane of people lined up at the desk to talk to the airline agent to get them set up with alternate plans to get home. We’re talking HOURS worth of waiting in line… My client called me and I got them set up on different flights home before all of the seats were taken up by the others waiting in the long line. If it weren’t for them having me on hand, they most likely would have had to stay the night there.
Not only that, but 99% of the time, the airline doesn’t make arrangements for you for a hotel and transportation back to the airport for the next day. You would then be stuck sitting at the airport on your smartphone trying to look up hotels, availability, and make reservations. Who knows how much more time that would take. Whereas with an agent, I’m at home at my nice desk with the tools I use on a regular basis on hand to get you set up quickly and efficiently.
2. I can save you money that you’re not factoring in when you’re comparing the price of “what you can get” to “what I can get”. Let’s say you’re booking a cruise or even just a hotel. There is so much more to that vacation than that. There are flights, transportation, travel insurance, that should all be accounted for as well. I’ve been doing this for almost a decade, so from experience, I know of different airports, routing, and combinations of packages that will save you money that you wouldn’t even think of.
The only way you’re going to know for sure if it’s worth it is for you to trust me, just one time. Make an investment in your vacation, go out on a limb, and try using a professional next time. I guarantee you won’t ever go back!
